Areas of intervention

Rescue, assist, accompany

The core activity of the ANPAS family of public assistance organizations is first aid and social and medical transport, whether emergency or scheduled.
In agreement with local health authorities and local government bodies, the association helps to ensure the smooth running of a number of important services, such as the 118 emergency service and transport for people with disabilities.
This sector is the area in which ANPAS volunteers are most involved, with 90.8% of associations dedicated to it at national level (a percentage that reflects the association’s strong roots in the local community).
In Italy, in fact, over 70% of emergency interventions are carried out by volunteers. The ambulance service is the Association’s original activity, divided into emergency and ordinary transport.

In addition to responding to emergencies, public assistance services also provide security at sporting and cultural events, transport patients to hospital with the emergency medical service, and transport people with disabilities, guaranteeing them their fundamental right to mobility.

Therefore, the public assistance services coordinated by Anpas Emilia Romagna within the regional emergency healthcare system:

  • provide emergency medical services through the 118 service;
  • perform emergency medical transport of organs, blood, blood products, urgent medications, and antidotes;
  • provide, upon request, an ambulance with driver for the 118 emergency service;
  • perform assisted transfers within hospitals by ambulance;
  • transport hemodialysis patients;
  • They provide social and healthcare transport for visits, treatments, and diagnostic tests.

Except in emergencies – for which you should always call 118 – if you require any of the transport services listed, you can contact your nearest public assistance service directly.
