Anpas Emilia-Romagna is running safe driving courses for ambulance drivers in Parma-Fidenza.

President Fiorentini: “For us, the primary goal is to put operators and patients in the best safety conditions.”

FIDENZA – La sicurezza degli operatori è uno degli obiettivi sui quali la rete regionale delle Pubbliche assistenze, Anpas Emilia-Romagna, lavora con maggiore attenzione e impegno. Going in this direction are the Safe Driving Courses for drivers of ambulances and emergency vehicles, which have been offered for several years now also through important collaborations, such as the one with the Autodromo Enzo and Dino Ferrari in Imola where a major training session with ambulances was held on the circuit in 2024. a corsi di questo tipo vengono anche “portati” sui vari territori provinciali che compongono la rete Anpas regionale. Un esempio si sta concretizzando in questo periodo: un corso di Guida sicura rivolto in questo caso agli autisti dell’Azienda sanitaria locale di Parma – distretto di Fidenza e due volontari della Pubblica Assistenza di Fidenza. A first session of practical tests was held on November 3 and 11, 2025, while the trainees are also going through an important theoretical part with Distance Learning. The training module responds to the clinical competencies defined by the 2009 Regional Council resolution. The course thus shifts from “macro” topics to more specialized ones, with the aim of putting operators in a position to carry out their activities according to the highest criteria of safety, professionalism and peace of mind, obviously in compliance with the regulations of the Highway Code. Theoretical/practical training enhances awareness of the responsibilities and duties of the Driver, through various training modules that cover the requirements of the ambulance driver, relevant regulations, phases of service, influence of driving on the patient, driving position, driving style, the vehicle, and, indeed, through to practical tests of driving the vehicle.

“For us, these courses are really fundamental,” says Anpas Emilia-Romagna President Iacopo Fiorentini, “and we don’t say that so much as the operators and volunteers who attend them. Driving an ambulance is not just about getting to places of care and emergency rooms quickly: it always takes the awareness that you are transporting a sick or injured person, and that you also have responsibility for the staff on the vehicle. With that comes a lot of care that must always be maintained at the highest level. We are fully aware that this is a crucial and weighty role, which is precisely why we want to give all the tools to be able to carry it out to the best of our ability. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our operators and volunteers who by driving or on board the ambulances every day are close to the communities and in particular to the weaker segments of them.”

Adds Luca Di Gaudio, Vaio Transportation Service Representative, “It was a wonderful experience, there was the utmost satisfaction from all participants.”

Many thanks to the Safe Driving Group, especially Zucconi and Mezzetti, who made the course possible.
